Israel’s Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, has warned that Iran recently launched a two-stage intercontinental ballistic missile capable of striking parts of Europe.
Zamir said the missile, with an estimated range of 4,000 kilometres, was fired toward a United States military facility on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean.
“Just yesterday, Iran launched a two-stage intercontinental ballistic missile with a range of 4,000 kilometres toward an American target on Diego Garcia,” he said.
He noted that while the missile was not directed at Israel, it underscores a wider strategic threat beyond the Middle East.
“These missiles were not intended to hit Israel. Their range reaches the capitals of Europe — Berlin, Paris, and Rome are all within direct threat range,” Zamir added.
The warning comes amid rising tensions between Iran and Western allies over Tehran’s expanding missile programme and regional influence.
Iranian authorities have yet to respond to the claim, and there is no independent confirmation of the reported missile launch as of press time.
