The Police Command in Ogun has confirmed the kìlling of one Gideon Ebukwe by yet-to-be identified gunmen at Ok Winners Hotel, Igbosoro, Igode in Sagamu Local Government.
Ebukwe was shōt dead while trying to escaping when he csme under attack by gunmen who stormed the hotel he lodged as guest.
It was learnt that despite breaking into the ceiling of the hotel to escape from the assailants, the gunmen still kìlled him and and took his belongings away,
SP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the police confirmed this in a statement, in Abeokuta on Tuesday.
Odutola said that at 3.30 p.m., the CDC Chairman, Atobatele Igbosoro, reported an incident involving a suspected assassination.
He said that a group of five unidentified armed men arrived at Ok Winners Hotel in Igbosoro, and attacked a guest, Gideon Ebukwe, whose address was currently unknown.
“At the time of the attack, the hotel staff, mostly women, were locked in another room, while the assailants proceeded directly to the guest’s room.
“In an attempt to escape, the guest broke through the ceiling but was chased and shot dead, and his belongings were taken.
“Upon receiving the information, the divisional police officer led detectives to the scene. No arrest has been made, and the body was transported to Jas Medical Mortuary in Ogijo,” she said.
Odutola said that investigation had commenced to unravel the nature of the crime, if it was cult related.
She said that the case would be transferred to the Police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for a more discreet investigation.
