Gunmen have struck in two separate communities in Imo State, killing two traditional rulers in the process and leaving the villagers in panic mode and fear.
While first attack occured in Orsu Obodo community in the Oguta Local Government Area(LGA) of Imo State leading to the gruesome murder of Eze Victor Ijioma, another happened in Mgbele community also in Oguta LGA.
In Mgbele, the traditional prime minister was killed by gunmen.
It was learnt that the two traditional rulers were murdered in separate attacks on Thursday.
The traditional prime minister of Mgbele community was killed in his town.
The Daily Crucible gathered that the monarch was killed in his car at Izombo community and his remains set ablaze afterwards by the assailants.
“Unknown gunmen accosted the Orsu Obodo monarch at Umuamaka Junction of neighbouring Izombe town, killed him inside his car and set his corpse ablaze inside his car.”
Confirming the killings to our correspondent in a telephone conversation on Friday.
The police spokesman in Imo State, Henry Okoye confirmed the incidents to newsmen, saying the commissioner of police, Muhammed Berde had assembled investigators to unravel those behind the heinous crime.
“The Commissioner of police condemns in strong terms the gruesome murders of the traditional ruler and the prime minister. He has inaugurated high powered team of security men to go all out to arrest the hoodlums.
“We are collaborating with the military and we have increased security presence in the areas with the view to arresting the killers. The commissioner of police commiserates with the families of the killed community leaders and prays God gives them the fortitude to bear these irreparable losses,” Okoye said.
