The family of Adebayo Adelabu has confirmed the abduction of his younger sister, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her 12-year-old twin sons by suspected gunmen in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by Adelabu’s media aide, Comrade Femi Awogboro, who said the victims were kidnapped in the early hours of June 3, 2026.
According to the statement, Mrs. John-Paul, 43, was on her way to drop her children at school when armed men intercepted their vehicle and forcefully whisked them away at about 7:30 a.m.
The abductors also took her twin sons, Peter and Paul, raising fresh concerns over the security situation in the state.
Mrs. John-Paul is a former employee of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and First Bank Pension Custodian. She reportedly took voluntary retirement last year and relocated to Ibadan with her children while making arrangements to join her husband in the United States.
The family said security and law enforcement agencies were immediately alerted and have launched investigations aimed at rescuing the victims and apprehending those responsible for the abduction.
Expressing deep concern over the development, the family appealed to the public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information that could jeopardize ongoing rescue efforts.
They also called for prayers and urged anyone with useful information to assist security agencies through the appropriate channels.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the Oyo State Police Command, Ayanlade Olayinka, said he could not immediately verify the incident.
“I cannot independently verify this for now, but please hold on,” Olayinka said.
The family assured the public of its continued cooperation with security agencies and pledged to provide updates as events unfold.
