Gunmen have attacked a vehicle conveying dozens of medical and dental students in Benue State, abducting dozens of them and a House Officer in the process.
The Daily Crucible learnt that the students were on their way to Enugu State for the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention when suspected kidnappers ambushed the the bus and forcibly took the occupants away.
The affected medical students are largely believed to be coming from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos.
They boarded the same bus and were heading to Enugu when the attackers struck around 5:30 p.m. at the Otukpo corridor of Benue state.
The Benue State Police Command spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, who confirmed the incident, said it occurred between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., adding that detectives have commenced an investigation on it.
