Comrade Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir Ajagungbade, has reportedly been shot dead at Mayfair Garage in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Oyeyemi, a political associate of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and a member of the Accord Party, was allegedly killed during a confrontation allegedly linked to a dispute over control of the motor park.
The incident is said to have involved Comrade Nurudeen Alowonle and the chairman of Ife Mini-Bus, popularly known as Sibi. Both Alowonle and Sibi are also members of the Accord Party in the state.
As of the time of filing this report, details of the incident remained sketchy. The circumstances that triggered the confrontation, as well as the identity of the person or persons responsible for the shooting, had yet to be independently established.
Oyeyemi was involved in transport and motor park management activities in Osun and was reportedly a member of the transition committee constituted ahead of Governor Adeleke’s inauguration.
He had also been described in previous reports as a political associate of Adeleke and was linked to the administration of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
The deceased had, however, faced legal controversies in the past. The Osun State Police Command reportedly declared him wanted in July 2022 over allegations including murder, cultism and armed robbery.

He was later arrested by the police anti-kidnapping unit and arraigned before the Federal High Court in Osogbo in 2024 on charges reportedly including terrorism, conspiracy and unlawful killing. He was granted bail by the court in April 2024.
Despite the legal proceedings, Oyeyemi remained active in political and transport-related circles in the state.
His reported killing has once again drawn attention to longstanding disputes and tensions surrounding the control of motor parks and transport operations in parts of Osun State.
Meanwhile, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has ordered the immediate arrest of all those allegedly involved in the killing of Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Ajagungbade Emir, in Ile-Ife.
Oyeyemi was reportedly shot dead on Sunday by suspected hoodlums during a clash over control of a motor park in the ancient city.
In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke directed the Commissioner of Police in the state to take immediate action to apprehend those responsible for the killing.
The governor also ordered the immediate vacation of motor parks by rival groups and directed the establishment of a Park Management System across the state.
Adeleke called on residents to remain calm, while directing security agencies to restore normalcy in all affected motor parks and maintain law and order across Osun.
He said the state government would soon issue an Executive Order to formally establish the new park management system, aimed at restoring discipline, orderliness and effective administration in motor parks and garages.
“Law and order must be maintained. There will be no sacred cows as all culprits will be brought to book,” the governor said.
“We call on members of the public to remain calm. We will ensure restoration of peace in all the affected parks and areas. The security agencies are under instruction to ensure the sustainability of peace at all costs.
“We are reintroducing the Park Management System. I will soon issue an executive order to give effect to the new management system to manage parks and garages across the state.”
The governor further charged security agencies to ensure that peace and stability are sustained across the affected areas.
