A young man, Toheeb Eniafe, has been shot dead at a petrol station belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited at Obalende in Ikoyi area of Lagos State following argument over attempt by some persons to shunt the queue to buy fuel.
The incident, it was learnt, happened around 9.30pm on Wednesday and left some residents in the area in fear.
Sources said people suspected to be security agents carried out the shooting when people tried to prevent them from driving into the station to buy petrol instead of joining the queue to get the product.
It was learnt that Eniafe was among the people kicking against anybody trying to break the queue, and in the ensuing fisticuff, one of the men shot him and fled the scene when he fell to the ground.
Some area boys, according to witnesses, set a bus on fire when they discovered that one of the assailants hid under it but the particular assailant managed to the escape.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, saying a young man identified as Toheeb Eniafe, was shot dead and two vehicles burnt.
Hundeyin said the identity of the shooters was not yet known as investigations were ongoing while the remains of Eniafe have been deposited in a morgue.
