Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are currently interrogating Fayemi to explain his role in the alleged mishandling of Ekiti State funds to the tune of N4 billion.
The Daily Crucible had reported that Fayemi, who is also a former Minister of Mines and Steel Development during President Muhammadu Buhari’s first term, had earlier through his lawyer asked the anti – graft agency not to probe him until after the inauguration of the new government at the Centre, assuring he would honour the agency’s invite after May 2023.
through was still undergoing interrogation at about 4:15pm on Thursday at Ilorin zonal command of the anti-graft agency.
However, the ex – governor landed in the custody of the EFCC at the zonal headquarters in Ilorin in honoured of the invitation earlier extended to him.
It was learnt that Fayemi was in Ilorin zonal office to answer some questions bordering on alleged fraud of N4 billion belonging to Ekiti State.
He would likely be released tonight or Friday morning.
