Waking up every morning in Isale Oja, Kuto used to be a test of endurance and survival. As early as 5:00 a.m., you would see women, children and even the elderly moving from one end of the community to another, clutching buckets and jerrycans, searching desperately for clean, portable water. It wasn’t just about drinking, we needed water to cook, wash, bathe and live.
For many of us, water was more of a daily battle than a basic necessity.
Sometimes, we walked miles to fetch water from neighboring areas, often from questionable sources, like the river not far from us. It was not uncommon to fall ill due to the poor quality of water we were forced to use. The frustration, the fatigue and the indignity became part of our everyday lives.
But then, a miracle came in the form of a man we didn’t vote into office, yet who has impacted our lives more than many we voted.
Chief Toyin Amuzu, TA through his Toyin Amuzu Foundation, gifted us a fully functional borehole, right here in our community.

Chief Amuzu didn’t do this for political gains or for applause, he simply did it out of love for the people. And we hear this is not a one-time gesture. Across Abeokuta South Local Government, he has donated over 20 boreholes to different communities! That is not just charity, that is a legacy.
He is not in government. He holds no political office. But he is doing what many in power fail to do, serving the people, uplifting lives and providing hope.
As Asiwaju Leragun Egba, Chief Toyin Amuzu is not just a traditional leader in title, but in action. He leads with compassion, with generosity and with the spirit of true Egba pride. We pray that men like him find their way into governance because if this is what he can do without political office, imagine what he could do with the power and resources of one!
Water is life and Chief Toyin Amuzu gave us life again.
