Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has blamed political detractors for the recently released video of his daughter, Jane Edidiong Ufot, alleging ritual sacrifice.
Eno, however, maintained that his family is intact and unperturbed despite the trending trending video.
The Daily Crucible had earlier reported that all seemed not to be well with the family of the Governor as his second daughter, Mrs Jayne Edidiong Ufot, accused him of using his deceased wife (her mother), First Lady Patience Oluwakemi Umo Eno for ritual sacrifice.
The Daily Crucible also reports that Governor Eno’s wife of 38 years, passed away to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 26, 2024 following an undisclosed illness.
Eno who addressed the citizens of Akwa Ibom State at the time in a broadcast to announce his wife’s death, said Kemi was everything a man could ever wished for in a virtuous woman.
He described her glowingly as “My prayer partner, counsellor, cheer-leader, best critic, home maker and permanently smiling.”
But the events unfolding in the family late painted a different picture after the video of Mrs Ufot making allegations against her father emerged.
Mrs Ufot, who was appointed as a senior special adviser to her father (the Governor) on health, safety and environment, launched the scathing attacks on her father, warning that she would not be killed the way her mother was, even as alleged a sinister threat to her life and that of her little daughter.
In a post on Instagram, Mrs Ufot slammed her father, vowing not to allowed herself to be made an object of sacrifice the way her mother was, even as she alleged a sinister threat to her life and that of her little daughter.
Mrs. Ufot, in the video, said, “Daddy, I will send this particular post to only you. Please, let us talk before this thing destroy. I’m not a sacrifice, mummy was, but I’m not. If I give you few minutes and it doesn’t work, I’ve posted this to everywhere.”
However, addressing newsmen in Uyo, the state capital, the governor said he is focused and can’t be distracted.
He blamed political detractors for circulating the old video as a tool of distraction.
Eno said: “My family is intact and you can see all of them here. The event you are talking about took place immediately my wife died last year, so why is it surfacing now on the eve of our second anniversary when we are celebrating the milestone we have achieved?
“That teaches me that there are detractors around. My family is intact, that’s Jane herself there. We are a good family.
“I can’t be detracted, I remain focused. I will continue to serve Akwa Ibom people.
“My family is intact. Even in politics, family should be off limits.”
