The Ekiti – born chef, Miss Damilola Adeparusi, says she is neither competing with the Akwa Ibom -born 27 – year old Hilda Baci nor doing her 120 hours cooking duration to stop Miss Baci from entering the Guinness World Records for accomplishing 100 hours long cooking session on May 15.
Miss Adeparusi who courageously continued on Sunday in her quest to break Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, disclosed that she embarked on the task ostensibly to try her “capability.”
Adeparusi, who is a student of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) had already hit 60 hours cooking marathon in her Cook – a – thon kitchen located in an apartment in Ilupeju community in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
She started her 120 hours marathon cooking task at 12am on Friday morning, but in a very small space kitchen with little ventilation and no arrangements for medical personnel to be on ground in case of any emergency.
This development has been attracting more of criticisms than praises from Nigerians. And among those who have sent out encouraging and reassuring words to her is Chef Hilda Baci.
But apparently reacting to the criticisms, chef Damilola said she acknowledged Baci as her senior in the art and whom she also holds in high esteem .
The chef with modest kitchen, however, explained that she was not cooking to break any world record but to create an awareness that would lead to her owning a restaurant soon.
She stated, “Dear Nigerians, I am not doing this inorder to stop Hilda Baci.
She is a senior colleague and I respect her.
I am only trying my capability and I welcome all criticism.
I will keep cooking till 120 hours and I am not doing it for world record either.
I believe,the media so far have helped me a lot.
I may Get recognition from here which will help me to get a good restaurants.
