Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has given insight into what he considered as the biggest mistake former President Muhammadu Buhari made while in office which explains why he failed as a leader.
Speaking with Channels TV’s Politics Today, Senator Ndume said Buhari was not in charge of his government the way President Bola Tinubu is in charge.
He said Buhari would give his aides assignment and would not bother to monitor them, which led to too many kleptocrats in his government.
According Ndume, Tinubu is fully in charge unlike Buhari.
The Senator added that he knew there were so many kleptocrats in the Buhari government and even the former president confessed to that himself.
“That is one thing with him (Tinubu). People think Tinubu is authoritative. The truth is that he takes charge unlike our former president.
“He (Buhari) would just give you an assignment and would not look over you. That was the mistake President Buhari did. He ended up confessing that he had too many kleptocrats than people who genuinely showed interest.
“I know there were too many kleptocrats in the Buhari government. He confessed recently. He admitted that there were people who took over power themselves. he said.
“But in the Tinubu government he can’t do that. You can see what he did to his own son. During the council he was going there. He threw him up. If it were another person, he would do nothing.”
