Multiple vehicles accident along Lagos – Ibadan expressway has left seven people dead and four others with equally multiple injuries.
The accident which occurred on Saturday morning involved three vehicles with registration numbers SEY363YY, a Mack truck, T2900LA (tanker) and a yellow bus LSD180YA .
Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) Chief Route Commander and Public Education Officer for Sector Commander, Ogun State, Florence Okpe, who confirmed this in a release on behalf of the sector commander, Fasakin Akinwumi, identified “excessive speed on the part of.Mack truck” as the cause.
Okpe explained that the speed led to loss of control, causing the truck to ram into the other two vehicles.
She stated that the injured victims were taken to Divine Touch Hospital and Glory Center Hospital Ibafo while the remains of the dead were evacuated to Idera morgue Sagamu.
She stated, “A total of 15 people were involved which comprised of 13 male adult and 02 female adult and 04 persons were injured ( 03 male adult and 01 female adult) while 07 people were recorded death from the multiple crash.( 06 male adult and 01 female adult)
“03 vehicles were involved with registration numbers SEY363YY A MACK TRUCK, T2900LA TANKER and a yellow bus LSD180YA .
“The suspected cause of the multiple crash was excessive speed on the part of. Mack truck Which led to loss of control and rammed into the other two vehicles.
The injured victims were taken to Divine Touch Hospital and Glory Center Hospital Ibafo while the dead bodies were taken to Idera morgue Sagamu.
“The crash vehicles were towed off the road for free Flow of traffic.
“The Sector Commander CC Fasakin Akinwumi visited the crash scene for further investigation . He sympathize with the families of the crash victims and enjoined them to contact FRSC IBAFO for more information.”
