Kano has been thrown into a state of mourning following the death of no fewer than 20 of its athletes in a ghastly motor accident at Dakatsalle Bridge in the Kura Local Government area of the State.
The athletes were said to be returning from the just concluded National Sports Festival held in Abeokuta, Ogun State tagged Gateway Games 2924.
The Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Umar Fagge, confirmed the tragic incident to newsmen, saying many other athletes also sustained various degree of injuries from the fatal accident on Saturday.
Fagge said that the bus carrying 30 athletes fell off the bridge, flipping to the ground and killing 20 athletes and injuring others in the process.
