Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Pro-Democracy Activists(PDA) community lost a gem, a Revolutionary Soldier, Icon of hope and irreparable giant of Struggles in African- Nigeria!
The CSOs have indeed lost a movement, a powerhouse, a trail-blazer and Inconsequential Leader of Multi-tasking Struggles!
Com. Abiodun Aremu, who died on Sunday, October 12, was a renowned activist and Secretary of the Joint Action Front, JAF,— the umbrella body for pro-labour civil society organisations. He was aged 65.
He was reportedly knocked down by a vehicle while crossing the road to his residence in Ota, Ogun State, around 6 p.m. on Sunday and rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors tried to revive him with oxygen, but he lost the battle and yielded to death.
May God of Aluta, comfort the family and all of us, as we deal with this stunning reality!
UAD deeply mourned the passage and transition of our icon to the great beyond, one of its finest Humanists, dependable, consistent, reliable advisor and the exceptional revolutionary leader par excellence!
The entire Civil Society Organizations and Labour Movement (LASCO) was thrown into a deep mourning, with the untimely demised of a quintessential defender of the voiceless and defenceless on Sunday 12th October, 2025.
Aremson is reputed for his fearlessness, fairer and doggedness in the face of adversity especially during his legion of popular decisive mass action organized and led by him, which shapes the course of Activism, Unionism and Radicalism in the annals of political and socio-economic struggles in Nigeria.
Aremson, an encyclopedia of all rich struggles which has won him many awards and accolades during his lifetime and mass actions for decades, till he took his last bow.

Aremson, an intellectual personality with cool headed, a disposition but fiery conviction towards the cause of the emancipation of the oppressed and repressed society. A Liberalist unrivaled, who stood and confronted the oppressors, fought for equality, equity, fairness, justice, accountability and good governance.
A courageous fighter, an accomplished disciplined personified, an exemplar in all field of expertise of struggles among his ranks, who never compromised his unflinching belief in making sure a just society is realizable and achievable; a cause Aremson lived all his life and died for.
Aremson is a graduate of KWARAtech, a former President of the school, Convener of UAD, a Secretary of Labour and Civil Society Coalition (LASCO), Secretary of Joint Action Front (JAF), founder of Amil Cabral (AMIS), mentor, oratory, community Leader, etc.
United Action for Democracy (UAD) and other CSOs owes Aremson a lot of gratitude’s for his leadership guidance, protests/ strikes supervisions and mentorship, which shapes the course of Advocacy for the liberation and emancipation of the oppressed!
According to a popular sayings, “where tradition is lacking, a striking example is imperative”
