The Anambra State Government has stepped up anti – Peter Obi campaign in the state ahead of 2027 presidential election with a call on voters, particularly supporters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), to reject him in 2027.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State is the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in the 2027 general election.
The government made the anti – Obi appeal in a post published on its official X account on Monday by the New Media Office of Governor Charles Soludo.
In the post, the state government accused Obi, who served as Anambra governor from 2006 to 2013, of turning against APGA after leaving office. It also claimed that President Bola Tinubu had, at various points, supported the party.
The government accompanied its message with a graphic describing Obi as a “betrayal” to APGA and urging members of the party to defend its political base ahead of the 2027 elections.
“A betrayal alert for Ndi APGA. Since 2014, Obi has had one mission: to destroy the party that made him,” the government stated.
It further alleged that in 2015, when Tinubu “stood with APGA,” Obi supported opposition forces against the party.
“Do not be deceived by a man who abandoned his own house. Anambra is APGA. Ndi APGA, defend your home, resist the NDC,” the government said.
Obi governed Anambra under the APGA platform between 2006 and 2013 before subsequently leaving the party. He is now seeking the presidency in the 2027 election on the NDC platform.
The latest statement marks a renewed political clash between the Anambra State Government and the former governor as political activities ahead of the 2027 general election intensify.
