The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, has travelled to the United Kingdom for better management of his health condition.
Sources close to the movement confirmed it on Tuesday, saying Edun traveled in search of better medical care.
Edun left Abuja for Lagos on Monday night through a commercial flight after doctors attending to him in Nigeria had advised that he should seek special care abroad, a source said.
The Daily Crucible reports that the Presidency had earlier refuted speculation fuelled by an online publication that President Bola Tinubu was contemplating a replacement for the finance minister.
A statement by Bayo Onanuga said that Edun would miss the World Bank meeting but added that the Central Bank Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, would stand in for him and lead the Nigeria’s delegation to the global finance meetings, which began on Tuesday, October 14.
