Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka has again debunked political quotes attributed to him castigating former President Olusegun Obasanjo and presidential standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
He also disowned quotes defending the presidential standard bearer of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Soyinka who distanced himself from the quotes in a statement by his spokesman, Abiola Owoaje said the person behind the fabrication of the quotes is a peddler of fake news who is ashamed to answer his own name.
The fabricated quotes on Obasanjo and Atiku, reads, “TRUE TALK. “Quote me anywhere; Nigerians don’t need the likes of Atiku and Obasanjo to lead them again. We have tasted the two: Atiku Is Corrupt and Obasanjo is a liar. Both of them are greedy and self-centered….” – Professor Wole Soyinka.
The other one on Tinubu reads, “Anybody, any cabal, any Viju milk activist, attempting to humiliate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu must have me to contend with. An average PDP man is angry with Asiwaju because he brought them to their knees. If anyone thinks that bringing down Asiwaju is his project, that mission will not only crash but it will boomerang. The literary luminary described the fabricator as a despicable bungler who is ashamed of his name to make a public statement.
“Let it be known by one and all that the quotes are FAKE NEWS. Those quotes are not from me. The public should disregard the quotes as the creation of a vile mind. The fabricator is a despicable and illiterate bungler who is ashamed to answer his or her father’s name,” he said.
