The fire of cordial relationship between members of staff of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) and their Olabisi Onabanjo University(OOU) Ago-Iwoye counterpart will be rekindled tomorrow (Tuesday)at a reunion in honour of one of the frontline bridges across the two institutions, Dr.’Bola Adekola whose wife, Prof.(Mrs.) Oluwakemi Busirat Adekola is delivering the 104th Inaugural Lecture of OOU.
Over the years, FUNAAB and OOU have been die-hard ‘lovers”, their hot ‘romance” cut across development-oriented partnerships and academic linkages.
The linkages include sabbatical leave appointments, Management level appointments, and transfer of service, among other symbiotic relationships and synergies that are deeply rooted in peaceful co-existence.
Similarly, the harmonious relationship between FUNAAB and OOU at the Union level is like the kind of intimidating and enviable nexus that bind inseparable Siamese twins together as they love to watch each other’s back in the body politics of “solidarity forever” at State and national level.
For instance, while a former Senior staff of FUNAAB’s ‘Nimbe Adedipe Library, Dr Adebambo Adewale Oduwole is presently OOU University Librarian, Dr Adekola who is a top Registry staff of OOU is the substantive Registrar of FUNAAB.
At the time, the current Dean of the Faculty of Arts, OOU, Prof.Samson Dare was on sabbatical leave appointment in FUNAAB while our own “Queen of English”, the former Dean of College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development(COLAMRUD) and former Deputy Vice-Chancellor(Academic), Prof.(Mrs.) Bolanle Akeredolu-Ale was on sabbatical appointment in OOU.
Since he became the Registrar of FUNAAB, Dr Adekola has used his amiable personality, which cut across the divides within and between the two Universities to reinforce and strengthens the existing ties.
This explains why beneath the surface of Prof(Mrs) Adekola’s Inaugural Lecture holding at 1 pm tomorrow at Otunba Gbenga Daniel Hall will inevitably ignite the glamour of a reunion between the two Universities like it was recently when the Adekolas married the daughter of Balogun Dododanwa in Ijebu Ode.
Already some members of staff, cutting across cadres have resolved to solidarize with Dr Adekola, their Registrar by attending the Lecture titled, ” The World Cheats Those Who Cannot Read” without compromising standards.

Meanwhile preparation is in top gear for FUNAAB 73rd Inaugural Lecture holding on February 8,2022, which is less than a month now.
The Direcorate of Public Relations Congratulates the Inaugural Lecturer, Prof.Samson Awokola and his family the Prof (Mrs.) Helen Aduke Bodunde-led Publications Committee, the Ceremonial Committee, the Head of Department of the Inaugural Lecturer, the Dean of the College of the Inaugural Lecturer, the Chairman , Committee of Deans and Directors (CODAD), the Academic Procession, the University Management, especially the Chairman of the Inaugural Lecture and Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof.Olusola Babatunde Kehinde, and of course, the entire University Community and stakeholders in general in advance for the forthcoming Inaugural Lecture which will dissects thematic concern and contributes immensely to knowledge because we are FUNAAB “Forward, upward we shall ever stay.”
