Hon. Isa Nathaniel JP, Chairman of the Counter and Mobilisation Team for the RTD IGP Adamu 2027 Movement, has raised the alarm over what he called a coordinated attempt to undermine grassroots mobilisation in Nasarawa State.
Nathaniel said certain political actors are working to frustrate the ongoing distribution of APC membership cards across the state’s 13 Local Government Areas ahead of the 2027 elections.
“These actions are a direct assault on internal democracy and the principles on which the APC was founded,” he said.
The APC, he added, is not the private property of a privileged few. “It is a party sustained by the sacrifices, loyalty, and electoral strength of ordinary grassroots members. They are the backbone of its existence.”
The Movement condemned any scheme aimed at intimidating or disenfranchising genuine party members for narrow political gain.
“It is disturbing that some individuals are spreading false claims that only membership cards endorsed by the State Secretariat will be valid for future primaries. This narrative is deceptive, unconstitutional, and designed to create fear and exclusion within the party,” Nathaniel said.
He stressed that neither the APC Constitution, party guidelines, nor the Electoral Act gives the State Secretariat exclusive authority to validate membership cards.
“No cabal or self-appointed gatekeeper has the power to invalidate the membership of duly registered APC members at the ward or LGA level in Nasarawa State,” he said.
Grassroots registration and ward-based mobilisation, he said, remain lawful and recognised ways to strengthen party structures and broaden participation.
“Participation in party affairs is determined by verifiable membership and compliance with party rules, not by intimidation, manipulation, or political blackmail,” he said.
Nathaniel warned that attempts to weaponise party structures for factional control risk weakening the APC ahead of the elections.
“A party that turns against its own grassroots undermines its moral authority and electoral viability,” he said.
He called on those behind the alleged plot to desist immediately, saying such actions risk deepening distrust and destabilising the party in the state.
Reaffirming the Movement’s commitment to internal democracy and inclusiveness, Nathaniel urged APC members to remain calm and engaged.
“Do not be discouraged by propaganda meant to suppress participation. Your membership is valid. Your voice matters. The future of Nasarawa State will be decided by the collective will of the people, not by fear or manipulation,” he said.
