The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction led by Tanimu Turaki (SAN) has scheduled the screening of former President Goodluck Jonathan as its sole presidential aspirant for the 2027 general election.
According to a statement issued by the faction backed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, the screening exercise will hold on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
The party named a 14-member screening committee that includes former Vice-President Namadi Sambo, former Plateau State governor Jonah Jang and former Foreign Affairs Minister Tom Ikimi.
Other members of the committee are Chief Olabode George, Babangida Aliyu, Maryam Ciroma, Zainab Maina, Josephine Anenih, Dr Abdul Bulama, Dr Esther Uduehi, Edo State PDP chairman Tony Aziegbemi, Dr Sunday Solari and Chief Anicho Okoro, who will serve as administrative secretary.
Last week, the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, announced that Jonathan had successfully registered in the party’s fresh digital membership exercise conducted in line with directives from INEC.
The PDP faction also disclosed that it would screen 748 House of Representatives aspirants, 198 senatorial aspirants, 112 governorship aspirants and 2,122 state House of Assembly aspirants across the country.
According to the statement, the nationwide screening exercise will commence simultaneously on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.
The Interim National Working Committee (iNWC) also released names of members for the Screening Committees and Screening Appeal Panels, stating that the exercise aligns with the party’s timetable and guidelines for the 2027 general elections.
