Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State has flagged off the digital capture and enrolment of 32,000 beneficiaries from the state formal sector to access free and quality healthcare services.
At the event which took place in Lokoja, Kogi State capital, on Friday also flagged off access to care for 41,587 beneficiaries and launched the 10 years strategic plan of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency from 2024 to 2033.
While expressing satisfaction with the operations of the Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, the governor said time for the people to enjoy the reason for voting him into office as the governor of the state has come, stressing that his administration is getting it right because it is taking governance to the grassroots, even as he assured the people of continued provision of quality governance.
Ododo said, “We have no reason not to deliver good governance to the people of Kogi State because we have all the necessary support that we need from the federal government and we will not disappoint our people.
“I belong to the constituency of the vulnerable and the indigent and we have no reason than to key into the programmes that will make life easier for the people”.
Ododo lauded his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaha Bello for laying the foundation on which he is building upon to provide quality healthcare for the people of Kogi State.
The executive secretary of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, Dr Adekunle Aledare expressed firm belief that the launching of the formal sector plan for civil servants will provide a strong foundation for the state to rapidly scale up in the informal sector population coverage.
He said, “Formalising the informal sector is a key strategy that can fast track informal sector participation. History will be kind to us that we are gathered here to provide hope to the civil servants and their dependents through the formal sector plan which has the propensity to reduce the financial burden associated with paying out of pocket for health particularly in the face of rising medical inflation.”
