The criss rocking the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) controlled Rivers State government worsened on Monday morning as the state Assembly reportedly signed an impeachment notice on Governor Siminalaye Fubara.
The Daily Crucible learnt that some lawmakers entered the state assembly chamber around 7.08am on Monday, October 30 and held plenary.
The plenary it was further gathered was presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon Martins Amaewhule and attended by majority number of members where they took the decision to suspend the Leader of the House, Hon Edison Ehie and those believed to be loyal to the seemingly embattled governor.
On Sunday night the Assembly building came under an arson and explosive device attacks by people suspected to be working to thwart the plans of some lawmakers loyal to the former governor and Minister of the FCT, Barr.Nyesom Wike from sitting to take any step against governor Simi Fubara today.
But the lawmakers entered the House and immediately commenced plenary where they all signed the impeachment notice on the governor.
However, armed policemen have taken over the entire corridor of the Moscow Road leading to the Rivers State House of Assembly and barricaded it.
The Daily Crucible further gathered that attempt by the Governor to enter the Assembly building area was prevented with water and teargas from security operatives guarding the place
