The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Abeokuta South State Constituency II in the 2027 general election, Hon. Adeoye Adewale Adeniran, popularly known as A3, has said the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Oladipupo Adebutu, would prioritise stable electricity supply as a catalyst for economic growth, industrial expansion and improved living standards in Ogun State if elected.
Adeoye made the assertion while addressing party members and supporters in Abeokuta, urging them to remain focused on issue-based campaigns and avoid personal attacks ahead of the 2027 polls.
He maintained that electricity remains one of the most critical challenges confronting Ogun State, stressing that sustainable economic development cannot be achieved without reliable power supply.
“Our campaign must remain focused on issues that matter to the people. We must not descend into abusive politics or exchange insults with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Elections should be about ideas, competence and practical solutions,” Adeoye said.
The PDP assembly candidate argued that improving electricity infrastructure forms a key pillar of Adebutu’s development agenda, describing the governorship hopeful’s distribution of transformers across communities as part of a broader plan to strengthen power distribution and expand access to reliable electricity.
According to him, Adebutu’s vision reflects a clear understanding of the central role electricity plays in driving business growth, attracting investment and creating employment opportunities.
He also pointed to recent reforms in Nigeria’s electricity sector, noting that states now have greater opportunities to participate in electricity generation, distribution and regulation through partnerships with private investors, independent power projects and renewable energy initiatives.
“Ogun State is strategically positioned to leverage these opportunities because of its industrial strength and location. Stable electricity is not a luxury but the foundation of economic development,” he said.
Adeoye recalled the PDP administration’s mini-power project at Oke-Mosan, describing it as evidence of the party’s commitment to improving electricity supply, and expressed confidence that an Adebutu-led government would pursue lawful and innovative measures to expand power infrastructure across the state.
He said improved electricity would significantly reduce production costs for businesses, many of which currently depend on expensive petrol and diesel-powered generators.
He identified artisans, manufacturers, ICT operators, printers, tailors, hairdressers and other small business owners as among those expected to benefit from lower energy costs, increased profitability and improved productivity under a more reliable electricity system.
Adeoye further noted that stable power would enhance healthcare delivery, digital education and agro-processing, sectors he described as critical to Ogun State’s economic transformation.
He added that the PDP was presenting practical solutions to the state’s development challenges, expressing confidence that Adebutu possesses the vision and capacity to make Ogun a leading destination for investment and industrial growth.
The lawmaker hopeful appealed to residents to support leaders with clear development plans, saying reliable electricity would unlock economic opportunities, strengthen industries and improve the quality of life across the state.
