The Grassroots Mobilization for Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu (GMT) has taken a significant step in efforts to strengthen its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of 2027 by inaugurating the Ogun State Executives.
This move is part of GMT’s nationwide strategy to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election bid, building on the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda and as a movement dedicated to advancing Tinubu’s agenda across all levels of society. Speaking during the inauguration ceremony of the group held in Abeokuta, the Director General of GMT, Hon. Bisi Yusuf expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership style since assumption of office in 2023.
Bisi Yusuf, who was represented by Coordinating Director (Inter-State) of GMT Ambassador Oladipupo Gabriel, noted that the Nigerian economy is witnessing steady progress under the current administration.
He assured that unemployed youths would be gainfully employed under the ongoing economic reforms of the Tinubu administration.
“Nigeria is improving. When former Presidents Jonathan and Buhari were in power, only a few were benefiting. Nigerians were not as productive as they are today. Now, everyone is working, and although people are complaining, I don’t see anything bad in Nigeria,” he said.
In his address, the GMT Director General for Ogun State Dr. Akeem Awolesi acknowledged past shortcomings in the 2023 presidential elections and emphasized the need to mobilize stronger grassroots support ahead of 2027.
“Our goal this time is to bring more people out in support of President Tinubu. We are spreading our gospel to towns, cities, and rural communities. We are reaching the downtrodden to ensure every vote counts,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, Chief Wale Ohu, a former director at the Presidential Campaign Council for Grassroots Mobilization in 2023, emphasized the importance of continuity in leadership.
According to him, Asiwaju Tinubu has laid a solid foundation to rebuild Nigeria across economic, political, and social sectors, saying what he needs now is a second term to consolidate on the policies and programmes so as to complete what he has started.
Chief Ohu noted that while political grievances are natural, the party has mechanisms in place to manage internal disputes and maintain unity.
He dismissed opposition coalitions as lacking ideological cohesion, describing them as mere alliances of convenience bound for failure.
“Grievances are natural in politics. What we are now looking for is what’s the right mechanism to hold such grievances not to metamorphose to something that can destroy the party. Party itself has a structure that can take care of grievances. Coalition is just the combination of people that are desperate to have power, it will go nowhere, because the fundamental thing you must have in mind before you can bring yourself together is that you have a common purpose, you have a common ideology, but the common ideology that they have is just for them to get to power.”
Chief Ohu stressed that the coalition is even confusing to them and when there’s a confusion in a coalition, the end is destruction.
Meanwhile, the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Housing, Hon. Ejalonibu Amodu described the event as GMT’s first general meeting in Ogun State.
He stated that the group aim is to mobilize support across all communities in the state, adding that the vision is to ensure the reelection of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the second term as President of Nigeria.
According to him, the inauguration of the GMT in Ogun State marks the beginning of the group activities across every nook and cranny.
He affirmed that the only product the group is selling is the re-election of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,
encouraging Nigerians to remain patient, assuring that the reforms of President Tinubu, from fuel subsidy removal to infrastructure investments, are designed to create long-term benefits for the common man.
Hon Amodu disclosed that GMT has commenced grassroots mobilization for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, aimed at consolidating power and secure a successful future for the APC.
