ABUJA: Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on Thursday stood her ground during plenary to demand explanation why her seat that was changed without her consent.
The Daily Crucible reports that during the plenary presided by the Senate President, Godswill Obot Akpabio, drama ensued midway into the proceedings when the Chief Whip, Senator Mohammed Ali Monguno raised a point of order.
Monguno drew the attention of the Senate President to what he reckoned as “Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s improper seating position of the lawmaker.”
While Monguno was barely done with his point of order, Natasha raised objection and kept demanding explanation for alteration in the sitting arrangement and at a stage she and the Senate President could be heard talking at the same time, momentarily leaving the Senate Chamber in a shouting melee before the Sergeant-at – Arms closed in on her in a bid to excuse her from the plenary.
The female lawmaker representing Kogi Central insisted on knowing, “reasons her seat was changed without her consent.”
And bid to bully her out the chamber also failed as she screamed:“I don’t care if I am silenced. I am not afraid of you. You have denied me my privilege” to Akpabio when he directed that she should be evicted from the senate chambers.
However, normalcy returned after the public address systems were shut.
