2027: Senator Lawal Adamu Flays Critics, Lists Unprecedented Achievements

Senator Lawal Usman, representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, on Tuesday, lambasted a group, Kaduna Central Movement for Development (KCMD) for threatening to work against his re-election into the National Assembly in the 2027 general elections.

KCMD had accused Senator Usman of non-performance and failure to fulfill his campaign promises since election into the National Assembly in 2023.

But Senator Usman in a press release titled, “Our Response to the Shameless Lies By a Faceless Group, Kaduna Central Movement for Development (KCMD), Against Distinguished Senator Lawal Adamu Usman,” dismissed the KCMD’s threat as “laughable” and “infantile.”

In the statement issued by his Media and Publicity Office, the lawmaker stressed that he has brought “unprecedented developments” to his constituency and electorate and changed the political landscape of Kaduna in the less than two years of quality representation in the National Assembly.

Accusing the KCMD of deliberately peddling “malicious lies” about him, the Senator emphasised that he is too busy with his legislative duties aimed at delivering the real dividends of democracy to his constituency and the Nigerian nation than engage in any argument with “jobless hirelings.”

The press release noted that Senator Usman’s several achievements and developmental feats in less than 24 months have brought great relief to his constituents in Kaduna Central Senatorial District, who had earlier been unlucky to be saddled with “misfits” who represented them in the National Assembly before his election in 2023.

It noted that the evidence of Senator Usman’s achievements abounds in “various undisputable concrete forms” in terms of his unprecedented constituency projects and empower programmes.

The statement added, “At the risk of sounding immodest, the Kaduna Central Senatorial District for which the two immediate past Senators have no record of achievements they can flaunt, is the same constituency where the people have continued to hail and acknowledge the unprecedented achievements already recorded by the incumbent Senator LA in less than two years in the Senate. Parents, students and other constituents in Kaduna Central Senatorial District have continued to shower encomium on their amiable lawmaker, with many beneficiaries of Senator LA’s various constituency projects and programmes sharing testimonies about how his supports have positively impacted their lives in different ramifications.”

It further stated that for political opponents, particularly the KCMD, to “falsely accuse Senator LA of non-performance, is, to say the least, futile, unconscionable and a failed attempt to cover up their sponsors’ gross inadequacies and monumental failure in serving the people, when they were given the mandate in the recent past,” adding, “Just like the other belligerent faceless groups, the KCMD, alongside their masterminds, we believe, is suffering from a collective amnesia and intoxicated by the crumbs of the filthy lucre they’re being fed by their sponsors.”

Highlighting Senator Usman’s achievements in the less than two years he had spent as the lawmaker representing Kaduna Central, the statement listed the construction of 100 smart primary school buildings fully equipped with modern learning facilities, hundreds of millions of Naira worth of scholarships, provision of over 200 electricity transformers to light up homes across the seven local government areas, boreholes for potable water, solar lights, entrepreneurial training and provision of over 30,000 tons of fertilizers for farmers, sponsorship of hundreds of students for WAEC and UTME (JAMB) examinations, business startup capital for 500 beneficiaries, payment of registration fees for over 1000 tertiary institution students, training for over 100 women in soap making, training for over 200 beneficiaries in fish farming as well as other skills acquisition training for over 1000 other beneficiaries.

The press release added, “In continuation of his gesture of payment of tuition fees of indigent students across the state, Senator LA has also fulfilled his promise by giving the sum of between N100,000 and N150,000 bursary allowances to over 200 students in the Humanities and Sciences, respectively, across his Senatorial District, having announced the setting aside of N500 million for settling tuition fees for hundreds of students of tertiary institutions in his constituency. Over 1000 students drawn from across the Senatorial District have been awarded scholarships by the lawmaker.

“Of course, the scholarship given by Senator LA will go a long way in relieving many parents of the financial burden of funding their children’s education.”

The statement further noted that, to facilitate the transportation across his constituency, finishing touches are being put to Senator Usman’s plan to construct over 20,000 kilometres of roads traversing the seven local government areas of his senatorial district.

On the lawmaker’s legislative achievements, the press release mentioned Usman’s motion to expedite the reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano expressway, which received unanimous approval from the Senate, as well as four crucial motions and four bills currently in their third reading stages.

Below is the full text of Senator Usman’s press release:

PRESS RELEASE BY THE MEDIA & PUBLICITY OFFICE OF THE DISTINGUISHED SENATOR LAWAL ADAMU USMAN

OUR RESPONSE TO THE SHAMELESS LIES BY A FACELESS GROUP, KADUNA CENTRAL MOVEMENT FOR DEVELOPMENT (KCMD), AGAINST DISTINGUISHED SENATOR LAWAL ADAMU USMAN

Our attention has once again been drawn to the unwarranted media attacks and malicious barefaced lies being sponsored in the media against the conscientious and performing Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, Distinguished Senator Lawal Adamu Usman. This time by another faceless group acting under the veil of Kaduna Central Movement for Development (KCMD).

Ordinarily, we wouldn’t have dignified the barefaced lies by this group of jobless men masquerading under the KCMD with any response. But ignoring them can send the wrong signal and be misconstrued by some undiscerning members of the public as consent on our part.

For the umpteenth time, we want to state that, contrary to the malicious lies being peddled by these jobless hirelings in the KCMD against the good works already done, and still being done by Senator LA, it’s a common knowledge, an indisputable, widely accepted and acknowledged fact that Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, popularly and fondly called Senator LA by his constituents and teeming supporters, has brought unprecedented developments to Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the less than two years he has represented the good people of the district in the National Assembly. His several feats in this regard are being widely attested to by the constituents themselves, as the evidence abounds in various undisputable concrete forms. The fact, however, remains that Senator LA has effectively changed the political landscape, not only in Kaduna Central, but also the whole of Kaduna State with his effective and productive leadership.

Therefore, for the information of the unsuspecting members of the public, the ranting by this faceless KCMD should not be taken seriously by anyone. They’re a group of jobless adults. They’re mere meddlesome interlopers!

The group’s needless attacks on the Distinguished Senator Lawal Adamu Usman is nothing but a fitful breeze that won’t pull even a strand of hair from the body of the unperturbed, but hard working lawmaker. The KCMD and their sponsors’ ultimate objective is to rubbish and vitiate Senator LA’s unparalleled achievements in his less than two years as the Senator representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly. But the good people of the constituency have seen through them. So, to the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial District, the KCMD’s infantile antics are, of course, laughable.

At the risk of sounding immodest, the Kaduna Central Senatorial District for which the two immediate past Senators have no record of achievements they can flaunt, is the same constituency where the people have continued to hail and acknowledge the unprecedented achievements already recorded by the incumbent Senator LA in less than two years in the Senate. Parents, students and other constituents in Kaduna Central Senatorial District have continued to shower encomium on their amiable lawmaker, with many beneficiaries of Senator LA’s various constituency projects and programmes sharing testimonies about how his supports have positively impacted their lives in different ramifications.

Therefore, for anyone, including the so called KCMD to now turn around to falsely accuse Senator LA of non-performance, is, to say the least, futile, unconscionable and a failed attempt to cover up their sponsors’ gross inadequacies and monumental failure in serving the people, when they were given the mandate in the recent past. Just like the other belligerent faceless groups, the KCMD, alongside their masterminds, we believe, is suffering from a collective amnesia and intoxicated by the crumbs of the filthy lucre they’re being fed by their sponsors.

At the National Assembly in Abuja, Senator LA remains on record as one of the first, if not the first, lawmaker to raise a motion on the floor of the 10th Senate after its inauguration in 2023, when he called urgent attention to the perennial insecurity and kidnappings in Kaduna State as well as their link to the deplorable state of the Kaduna-Abuja highway.

He didn’t just stop at raising the motion on the floor of the 10th Senate, he took the rare practical step of meeting physically with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the urgency of the matters. It is delightful that Senator LA’s proactive moves resulted in the various actions taken by the Federal Government to combat the menace of the bandits in Kaduna State and to also renovate the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway. Can the sponsors of this jobless group of persons bandying barefaced lies about Senator LA now boast of initiating or even making the same moves, even in their current political offices? The answer is a capital NO!

However, we make bold to say that the unconscionable and uninformed outbursts of the KCMD are nothing but a good testament of their crass ignorance about Senator LA’s germane contributions at the National Assembly and in his Kaduna Central constituency.

This group of jobless adults sure needs some good tutoring and education to be purged of their crass ignorance. Of course, as we always say, nothing is unusual about their warped story. It’s still an unfortunate manifestation of the diseased symptom of the bad and rotten politicking that has become the pastime of their sponsors.

For this group and others of their ilk, who are foolishly feigning to be blind and deaf to the monumental achievements of the Distinguished lawmaker, we want to repeat, once again, that Senator LA’s chairmanship and vice chairmanship of two very important committees in the Senate leave no room for frivolities such as the meddlesome interlopers in the KCMD have made their duty. The leadership of the Senate Committee on Education (Basic and Secondary) and Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions is not for the lily-livered or intellectually lazy, due to the seriousness of their businesses and services to the nation’s educational and financial sectors. This is evident in the quantum of work that the Education Committee did on the Basic Education (Amendment) bill now at the third reading stage before the Senate. Already, the Bill for an Act to amend the Compulsory, Free Universal Basic Education Act, Cap N4, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2024 and for other Related Matters 2024, sponsored by Senator LA, has passed a Second Reading. The Bill has also been referred to the Committee on Education (Basic and Secondary), being chaired by Senator LA, who sponsored the motion for its reading. The bill, when passed into law, will revolutionise and revitalise basic education in Nigeria.

Therefore, only those playing the ostrich will deny the obvious and concrete fact that Senator LA’s tenure, in less than two years, has been defined by a strong and unprecedented commitment to Education, infrastructural development, economic empowerment, and delivery of sundry dividends of democracy to his constituents and others. His comprehensive approach to addressing the needs of the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial District and even beyond remains unprecedented.

To scour the minds of the doubting Thomases, it is appropriate at this juncture to showcase a bit of Senator LA’s myriad of achievements in less than 24 months that the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial District had entrusted him with their mandate, as their representative in the nation’s upper legislature.

This, of course, is to puncture the lies by this amorphous group of meddlesome interlopers, as well as to fully answer their oft-repeated spurious “charges” of non-performance against this hard working and conscientious lawmaker.

Senator LA is indeed a new breed politician whose hard work and achievements have earned him the respect and love of his constituents as well as the electorate in the entire Kaduna State. Contrary to the claims by his critics, Senator LA’s weekly visits to his constituency and philanthropic gestures towards the people have continued to keep the wheel of his political structure well oiled and rolling among the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial District. A compassionate and cheerful politician, the Senator, through his LA Cares Foundation, has continued to touch and change the lives of many youths, orphans and other vulnerable people in his constituency and beyond. His myriad of democracy dividends delivered to the people of his constituency has continued to endear him to his people and the electorate. Senator LA has continued to shame his detractors and political foes with his unprecedented achievements in the construction and rehabilitation of over 100 schools, and positively affecting the hitherto moribund educational sector. He can also boldly beat his chest when it comes to the provision of basic infrastructure such as water resources, healthcare, power and generally improving the living standards of his constituents through capacity building, skills acquisition, empowerment and educational scholarships.

Specifically, Senator LA has recorded unprecedented achievements in less than two years by providing, among many others, over 100 smart primary school buildings, which are fully equipped with learning materials and educational aids, scholarships, boreholes for potable water, solar lights, entrepreneurial training for farmers, sponsorship of hundreds of students for WAEC and UTME (JAMB) examinations, N500,000 each as business startup capital given to no fewer than 500 beneficiaries, payment of the registration fee for over 1000 tertiary institutions’ students, training for 100 women in soap making with startup capital and training of 200 beneficiaries in fish farming with startup capital. Interestingly, beneficiaries of all these laudable projects are drawn from all the seven local government areas making up his Kaduna Central Senatorial District constituency. His motion urging the Federal Ministry of Works to expedite the ongoing reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano expressway has remained a reference point in the Senate, having secured the unanimous approval of all the lawmakers in the upper legislative chamber. In all, Senator LA has sponsored four very crucial motions and four bills, which are now in their third reading stages and about to be passed into law by the Senate. Infact, it’s crystal clear that if there’s any lawmaker that should be tarred with the brush of non-performance, it definitely can’t be the indefatigable Senator LA, who has been up and doing since his election.

Since he was elected as the lawmaker to represent the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Senator LA has been positively touching the lives of his constituents. Of course, according to analysts and watchers of Kaduna politics, with the failure of the “flawed strategies” of his immediate predecessors and the meteoric successes he has recorded within his less than 24 months in the National Assembly, it’s easier to concur that he’s been delivering regarding his responsibilities to his constituents in Kaduna Central Senatorial District.

Moreover, Senator LA, who doubles as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Education (Basic and Secondary), and Vice Chairman of, the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, has also, in his less than two years in the Senate, done so much in raising the standards and improving services as well as integrity in these two very important sectors. He, alongside his committee, had established a robust relationship with the CBN working to stabilise as well as mobilise the fiscal and monetary policies of the apex bank.

Similarly, in the area of engaging and empowering the people, Senator LA can also raise his shoulders high amongst the lawmakers who have been meeting the expectations of their constituents in this regard.

So far, he has doled out a whopping sum of over N500million to empower youths and women across his constituency, in fulfillment of his campaign promises to empower the youths and the vulnerable. The beneficiaries, who got the sum of N500,000 each as start-up capital, were selected from the seven local government areas constituting the Kaduna Central Senatorial District. The Senator has also donated other valuables, including food items and hundreds of sewing and knitting machines, worth over N500million to many widows to assist them in fending for themselves and tackling their financial problems. Altogether, the lawmaker has facilitated the training of over 1000 persons in skills acquisition. Senator LA has continued to sponsor people to perform the lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia to offer prayers for the peace, progress, and unity of Nigeria.

In continuation of his gesture of payment of tuition fees of indigent students across the state, Senator LA has also fulfilled his promise by giving the sum of between N100,000 and N150,000 bursary allowances to over 200 students in the Humanities and Sciences, respectively, across his Senatorial District, having announced the setting aside of N500 million for settling tuition fees for hundreds of students of tertiary institutions in his constituency. Over 1000 students drawn from across the Senatorial District have been awarded scholarships by the lawmaker. Of course, the scholarship given by Senator LA will go a long way in relieving many parents of the financial burden of funding their children’s education.

To assist his constituents to have access to regular electricity supply, Senator LA has distributed over 200 power transformers to communities across the seven local government areas of Kaduna Central Senatorial District.

During last year’s farming season, Senator LA distributed over 10,000 tons of fertilizers to farmers across his constituency. Lately, over 20,000 bags of fertilizer have also been given out to farmers in the senatorial district.

To facilitate the easy transportation of persons, goods and farm produce throughout Kaduna Central Senatorial District, finishing touches are currently being put to Senator LA’s plan to construct over 20,000 kilometres of roads traversing the seven local government areas in the district.

Of course, the people of Kaduna Central have weighed Senator LA and his immediate past predecessors, and have come to the unfortunate conclusion that the tenures of their two immediate past representatives have left so much to be desired. It’s a litany of unmitigated disasters and failures!

But Kaduna Central people now know the incumbent lawmaker is far ahead of their previous representatives, particularly the last two, in terms of achievements recorded for their benefits, even within his less than two years in office.

There’s no gainsaying the fact that the good people of Kaduna Central, in the recent past years, have been unfortunate to have been saddled with misfits and non-performers as their representatives. But their choice of Senator LA in the 2023 election has changed all of that, as they now truly enjoy the real dividends of democracy they had been denied by their past representatives.

Anyway, now the people of Kaduna Central know better and won’t fall for the lies and shenanigans of those bent on bringing back some misfits to lord it over them through the lies being peddled by such amorphous groups like the KCMD.

We want to say here that the sponsors of the various antagonistic groups have failed woefully in their latest futile attempt to denigrate the commendable achievements of Senator LA.

We will therefore advise the KCMD and their jobless members to look for worthwhile causes to engage in, rather than continuing to tow this dishonourable path of playing the role of the attack dogs of Senator LA’s political foes.

Not minding the acerbic criticisms, lies and noise by the KCMD and their likes, Senator LA will continue to deliver, by doing what the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial District have elected him to do.

Signed:

Media & Publicity Office of the Distinguished
Senator Lawal Adamu Usman
