The Arewa Community in Ogun State has endorsed the governorship ambition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, and pledged to mobilise massive grassroots support for him and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement followed a consultative and interactive meeting held on Tuesday at Senator Yayi’s constituency office in Ilaro, where leaders of the community resolved to embark on a door-to-door mobilisation campaign across the state’s 20 local government areas.
The delegation was led by the Director-General of the Southwest Arewa Community, Alhaji Shehu Usman, alongside the Senior Special Assistant on Inter-Ethnic Affairs and Coordinator of Arewa Door-to-Door for Yayi, Prince Hadi Sani.
Other prominent members of the delegation included the Sarkin Hausawa of Egbaland, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Hassan; the Sarkin Hausawa of Aworiland, Alhaji Muhammadu Badamasi; the Sarkin Hausawa of Owode Yewa, Alhaji Umar Muhammed Nalado; the Sarkin Hausawa of Sagamu, Alhaji Inuwa Garba; the Sarkin Hausawa of Ilaro, Alhaji Lawan Musa; Chairman of Ogere Market, Alhaji Bura Muhammed; Ogun State Arewa Community Women Leader, Hajiya Sadiya Garzali; and the Youth Leader, Alhaji Yusuf Adam.
Speaking during the meeting, Alhaji Usman described Senator Yayi as a detribalised Nigerian and a progressive leader whose commitment to the welfare of the people had earned him widespread acceptance across ethnic and political divides.
Prince Hadi Sani said the Arewa Community considered Senator Yayi the best candidate to sustain the achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun, particularly in promoting peaceful coexistence and strengthening inter-ethnic harmony in Ogun State.
He disclosed that the community had concluded plans to brand 10 buses in support of Yayi’s campaign and would commence an extensive door-to-door sensitisation campaign to canvass votes for the senator and other APC candidates across the state.
Senator Yayi, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District, has stepped up consultations with political stakeholders, traditional rulers and interest groups as part of efforts to build a broad-based coalition ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
His emergence as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate followed a series of endorsements by party stakeholders from the three senatorial districts of Ogun State, further strengthening his position ahead of the poll.
