The Imeko-Afon APC Youth Independent Mobilisation Team has commenced its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, with a Unity Rally held in Imeko drawing youths from across the 10 wards of the local government.
The rally, organised by the Imeko-Afon APC Youth Independent Mobilisation Team, brought together Community Youths, Christian Youths, Muslim Youths and Traditional Youths, according to the organisers.
Speaking at the event, the Convener of the group, Alhaji Okanlomo Aliu Adio, described the gathering as a demonstration of youth solidarity and the beginning of a structured grassroots mobilisation campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.
He said the initiative was designed to bring together youths from across the local government under a common platform and coordinate their participation in support of candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Convener highlighted the contributions of several youth leaders and coordinators, including Comrade Yusuf Olaegbe, Comrade Olaosebikan Malik and Mr. Ismail Nasiru, among others, who he said were part of the mobilisation effort across Imeko-Afon.
As part of the group’s grassroots strategy, youth mobilisers were inaugurated for polling units across Imeko-Afon Local Government. The mobilisers were charged with commencing engagement and mobilisation activities within their respective polling units ahead of the elections.
Alhaji Okanlomo said the Imeko-Afon APC Youth Independent Mobilisation Team would operate as a disciplined and coordinated youth platform and expressed the group’s commitment to supporting the APC and its candidates in the 2027 elections.
He specifically stated that the group would support Distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola CON (Yayi) in his bid for the governorship of Ogun State, alongside other APC candidates contesting at the presidential, National Assembly and State Assembly levels.
According to him, the mobilisation team intends to work alongside existing party structures, particularly the party’s Mobilization Committee, while maintaining what he described as a unified approach to grassroots engagement.
The Convener also thanked youth leaders, party stakeholders and supporters who attended the rally, urging members of the group to sustain their grassroots activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
The rally, which featured the participation of youths from different communities and groups within Imeko-Afon, marked the formal commencement of the team’s planned grassroots mobilisation activities.
