A Lagos State Renewed Hope Ambassador and Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government Area, Princess Surah Animashaun, has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office and declared her support for Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as her preferred candidate for the 2027 Lagos governorship election.
The endorsement was contained in a statement issued at the weekend and signed by the council chairperson, who described both leaders as “tested reformers” with proven capacity to deliver sustained growth and development.
According to Princess Animashaun, the decision followed extensive consultations within the council’s All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus and other stakeholders, with a consensus on the need for continuity in governance at both the federal and state levels.
She said the administration of President Tinubu had demonstrated commitment to economic reforms, infrastructure development and institutional restructuring, adding that such policies require time and consistency to yield their full results.
“We believe the ongoing reforms need continuity and political will to mature. President Tinubu has demonstrated courage in implementing difficult but necessary policies, and a second term will help consolidate these gains,” the statement said.
Princess Animashaun noted that reforms in fiscal management and governance were gradually repositioning the country for long-term economic and fiscal growth, stressing that policy stability remains critical.
In the same vein, Princess Animashaun described Hamzat as a “silent achiever” and a quiet, responsible leader whose contributions have played a key role in sustaining the state’s development trajectory.
She said Hamzat’s experience in public service, particularly in infrastructure, education, tourism, empowerment, science and technology, makes him well suited to lead Lagos into the next phase of growth and development that the state deserves.
“Dr Hamzat has displayed competence, loyalty and a deep understanding of Lagos’ development blueprint. His participation in digital governance and public service reforms reflects a revolutionary leadership approach,” Princess Animashaun added.
She emphasised that Lagos, as a rapidly expanding megacity, requires leadership that combines continuity with innovation to address challenges such as population growth, urban infrastructure deficits, developmental needs and economic expansion.
Princess Animashaun called on Nigerians and Lagos residents to support her position, stressing that sustained leadership is key to consolidating development gains.
She added that she had begun grassroots mobilisation across the council to build support for both Tinubu and Hamzat ahead of the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that the endorsement reflects broader public aspirations for stability and progress.
