In a strange turn of events, the popular Cole family of Victoria Island, Lagos, has publicly disowned the marriage of their son, Taiwo Cole, to popular actress and comedian Wofai Fada.
But the elated bride and groom said their “Joy shall be permanent.”
The traditional marriage took place in Ugep in Cross River State and hours after it was done, pictures and video clips of the surfaced on the social media, promoting the family of the groom to react.
It was not clear what informed the rejection of the recent Union by the groom’s family but sources close to the couple said age difference could be one of the causative factors.
They claimed the wife is older than the husband.
Distancing from the marriage, the family through a statement on Sunday by Kunle Cole, the family patriarch, resolutely denied any knowledge or approval of the union, saying, “This serves to notify all acquaintances, family, and friends that the Cole family of Victoria Island, Lagos, are not aware of any marriage ceremony involving our son, Taiwo Olakitan Cole; neither did we grant permission nor support in this regard.”
The family also cautioned against recognising any claims of association with them through this event.
“Person(s) parading themselves as new members of the Cole heritage by virtue of this purported event, are not known nor accepted by the family. All publications and documents being circulated about this are to be disregarded,” the statement continued.
However, despite the family’s cold disposition, Wofai Fada and Taiwo Cole shared their joy on social media.
Wofai said their “Joy shall be permanent.”
