Nigerian real estate entrepreneur, Ambassador Babatunde Adeyemo, has said that safe and secured Ogun State is a collective responsibility, and urged residents to give the Nigeria Police and Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) necessary support to succeed in making life, property and businesses safe in the state.
Adeyemo also urged residents to raise the awareness level about happenings in their various immediate communities and neighbourhoods, saying being vigilance and taking necessary steps to alert the police or PCRC of any security threat will go a long way to preventing crimes, save life and property from criminals.
He spoke on Thursday evening at the newly inaugurated Kayode Egbetokun Event Centre, Babangida Boulevard, Oke -Ilewo, Abeokuta, the state capital while fielding questions from newsmen shortly after he was presented with a certificate of appreciation and recognition for his “excellent leadership performance towards the upliftment and development of Nigeria Police and Police Community Relations Committee(PCRC), Ogun State Command.”
The honour was bestowed on him by the PCRC at its 40th anniversary and 2024 Annual General Meeting/Dinner Award ceremony, which had in attendance, Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Security, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Olusola Subair (retired), Police Public Relations Officer for the state, Superintendent of Police (SP) Omolola Odutola among other dignitaries.
The State Commandant of So – Safe – Corps, Ogun State, Mr Soji Ganzallo, is also one of the recipients of the PCRC’s recognition and honour.
Adeyemo described the honour bestowed on him as one that “will be mutually beneficial” and commended the PCRC and Police for the recognition.
While urging well meaning Nigerians, especially residents to collaborate with with the PCRC to make their communities crimes – free, Adeyemo recalled that Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited, a top – notch real estate firm behind Pelican Valley Estate Laderin, Abeokuta, Pelican Valley Brief Estate, Pelican Valley Ecostay Apartments and Pelican Valley Greenish Farm Estate at Kobape axis of the state as a responsible corporate entity, has been lending supportive hands to the Police and PCRC in recognition of their critical roles in keeping Ogun State safe.
“We joined well meaning Nigerians to say we are proud to be associated with. We have track records. Pelican Valley is proud to be associated with PCRC. There is no doubt that it is going to be a mutually benefiting relationship and we have extended hands of fellowship to the Nigeria Police. We have also extended the same to the PCRC. We will always support them.
“Security is everybody’s business.We just have to collaborate with Nigeria Police and PCRC in Ogun State, we should always be aware of what’s happening in our immediate environment, with vigilance in place it will be difficult for criminals to execute their plans, people will also not be victims of crimes. We urge everyone to be security conscious,” he said.
Earlier while giving his report on the PCRC activities and performance in the state, the state chairman, Dr Samson Popoola, identified resolution of internal conflicts in some area commands and police divisions, deployment of technology and social media to interconnect with members, repositioning its administrative and financial apparatus, membership drive and collaboration with other security agencies as some of the organisation’s notable achievements in the last couple of years.
