A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state, Olusola Oke, has raised an alarm bell over what may be political landmines ahead of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) not only in connection with Ondo State primary election of the party to pick governorship candidate, but also its future engagements if it is not resolved.
Oke said that last Saturday’s governorship primary of the APC was a nullity on the grounds that the national chairman of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje, was restrained by a court of law.
Oke came third in that primary, having scored 14,453 votes.
Oke claimed that Ganduje was restrained from performing the functions of the office of national chairman of the APC at all times material to the conduct of the primary election.
In a petition he filed before the appeal panel through his lawyers, Chief Oke said the primary election was a nullity having been organised and supervised by Ganduje against a valid, binding, and subsisting order of Kano State High Court.
He therefore demands, “That the APC primary election in Ondo State purportedly conducted between 20th and 22 of April 2024 be set aside for being a nullity, flawed, having been conducted against the order of Court, lis pendens and without compliance with relevant provisions of laws and APC Constitution and Guidelines,
“Since no valid declaration can be based on an invalid primary election, the committee is urged to recommend or direct a conduct of fresh primary to be conducted in line with applicable laws and guidelines.”
