Guinness World Records(GWR) in a fresh official statement following the Monday feat achieved by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, says it is reviewing evidence in respect of the marathon cooking to verify Hilda’s efforts.
GWR also said Baci, the 27 – year old Sociology graduate from Madonna University, Okija, Anambra State, is hoping to snap the title of the longest cooking session from the current, Lata Tondon, an Indian woman.
Baci, a Nigerian and an Akwa Ibom State native, beat the record for the longest cooking session by an individual, with a 100-hour record time. Baci beat Indian chef, Lata Tondon, who had completed the task in 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 secs in 2019.
Yesterday, GWR had through Alexander D Great reacted to concerns that the rating organisation was not talking about Baci’s Cook -a -thon: “Why is @GWR not showing or talking about Hilda’s cook-a-ton? Can’t see anything on their pages (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube).”
But Responding via Twitter, Guinness World Records stated that Baci’s work was being monitored and that all evidence must be reviewed before certification.
The organisation said: “We’re aware of this amazing record attempt, we need to review all the evidence first before officially confirming a record.”
However, in its latest reaction on Tuesday in a statement released on their official website read; “She’s hoping to snap up the record title for the longest cooking marathon (individual) which currently belongs to Lata Tondon (India) with a time of 87 hr 45 min.
“Hilda began cooking on Thursday and continued through to Monday, reportedly whipping up 55 recipes and more than 100 meals in a whopping 100-hour stint.
“Officials on our records team look forward to reviewing the evidence and hope to be able to verify Hilda’s efforts as a new record very soon.”
The British reference body, through one of its spokespersons said they “are looking forward to receiving the evidence for its Records Management Team to review before we can confirm the record is official.”
Ooni Congratulates Hilda Baci On Guinness World Record Feat
Meanwhile, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has hailed Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, for achieving the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Baci accomplished the feat on Monday by setting a new record for a 100-hour marathon cooking.
The monarch who shared Baci’s photo on his Instagram account on Tuesday, praised her resilience and toughness as a woman.
He wrote, “Today, like millions of Nigerians, I’m intrigued by #hildabaci resilient spirit, which exemplified the toughness but special grace that our women possess. What she demonstrated to our nation and every young person out there isn’t the glitz or reward system of breaking the Guinness World Record for “longest cooking time,” but the inexhaustible perseverance that every woman possesses.
“Every little girl in all our communities and local governments, like Hilda Bassey Effiong, deserves a chance to show the world her capacity to wrap us in her spirit of excellence. She has the ability to influence us, to break new ground in the most complex environments, and to substantially contribute to our nation’s economic prosperity.
“As a nation built upon family values, we must continue to recognise the significant contributions made by women throughout our country’s history. Their words and actions are cornerstones of our existence.”
