Senator Ibikunle Amosun (SIA) Movement in Abeokuta South has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), endorsing the party’s candidates, including Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, Chief Toyin Amuzu, Olufunbi Majekodunmi and Adeoye Adewale Adeniran ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The leader of the movement in Abeokuta, Moshood Okanlawon Akinleye, popularly known as Americo, described the group’s previous experience in the APC as disappointing, declaring that its members had returned to the PDP, which he described as their political home.
Akinleye, who accused the APC in Ogun State of lacking direction and failing to offer the people purposeful leadership, likened the party to a cult, arguing that its policies and approach to governance had not reflected the aspirations of ordinary citizens.
He said the movement had resolved to identify with the PDP candidates at all levels to form a government for the good of the people, stressing that the group would mobilise its members and supporters to vote for them in 2027 as they would not vote an outsider to lead the State.
According to him, the decision to return to the PDP followed a reassessment of the movement’s political experience and its desire to align with a party it believes can better address the concerns of the people.
The candidates endorsed by the SIA Movement include Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, the PDP candidate for Ogun Central Senatorial District, Chief Toyin Amuzu, the party’s candidate for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Olufunbi Majekodunmi, the PDP candidate for Abeokuta South State Constituency I and Adeoye Adewale Adeniran, the party’s candidate for Abeokuta South State Constituency II in the Ogun State House of Assembly.
