The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola, has been thrown into mourning following the death of the head of his family at Ago Isaga Compound, Pahayi-Yewa, Ilaro, Elder Chief Michael Adelani Ogundimu.
Chief Ogundimu, the Oloriebi of the Onibata Family and Akinrogun of Pahayi-Yewa, reportedly passed away in the early hours of Tuesday at the age of 85 after a brief illness.
In a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, Senator Adeola described the late family patriarch as an irreplaceable repository of the history and genealogy of the Isaga people of Pahayi-Yewa, Ilaro.
The senator said Chief Ogundimu, fondly known as “Baba Yayi,” was not only a great uncle but also a dependable source of encouragement and wise counsel throughout his political journey.
“Baba Ogundimu was full of encouragement for me as a son of the Onibata Family and was always ready to narrate the genealogy of our family across generations. I will surely miss his wise counsel and constant encouragement to continue on the noble path of good governance for my people,” Adeola said.
He expressed shock and deep sadness over the elder statesman’s passing, noting that his death leaves a huge vacuum in both the family and the wider Isaga community.
Senator Adeola also extended his condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, praying for the peaceful repose of his soul and for God to grant the family the strength to bear the loss.
Until his death, Chief Michael Adelani Ogundimu served as the Akinrogun of Pahayi-Yewa and was a former councillor representing Ilaro Ward 1 in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
