Luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz has formally filed a complaint with the Italian Carabinieri against Nigerian football star Victor Osimhen over an alleged unpaid vehicle deal.
The 27-year-old Super Eagles striker is accused of failing to honour payment terms for a car he leased in 2023, with the outstanding balance reportedly standing at €90,000 (about ₦142 million).
Osimhen, one of the most lethal forwards in global football, has risen to elite status through a glittering European career that has seen him feature in Belgium, France, Italy, and now Turkey.
His defining moment came at Napoli, where he fired the club to their first Serie A title in nearly 40 years, cementing his place as a fan favourite in Naples.
Following that historic triumph, the striker secured a blockbuster move to Galatasaray in Turkey’s Süper Lig, where he reportedly earns over €20 million annually—making him the highest-paid player in the league’s history.
Despite his immense earnings, Italian outlet Napolista reports that Mercedes-Benz has escalated the matter to law enforcement, alleging that Osimhen neither completed the purchase of the leased vehicle nor returned it.
The €90,000 debt stands in stark contrast to the striker’s weekly income, which exceeds that figure—raising eyebrows across both the football and celebrity circles.
