Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has revealed that there is no more face – off between him in the state, declaring that he and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, are working together in harmony.
Fubara also declared peace with Wike, current FCT Minister, following an evening meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Presidency in social media post yesterday, said Fubara arrived at the Villa in an official visit to the State House and met with President Tinubu.
The Rivers Governor was reinstated on September 18, 2025 after a six-month emergency rule in the state.
The Daily Crucible reports that President Tinubu had, in a national broadcast on March 18, declared a state of emergency in the state, suspended Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu and members of the State House of Assembly, and appointed a sole administrator to oversee its affairs.
However, Fubara returned to the state September 19 and addressed the citizens, thanking President Tinubu, Wike and the National Assembly for the peaceful resolution of the Rivers State political crisis.
Addressing newsmen on Monday after the meeting with the President, Governor Fubara said his visit was primarily to thank Tinubu and reaffirm his resumption of office.
He said, “You’re aware the suspension was lifted on the 17th, and I came in on the 19th. Ideally, it was proper for me to see Mr. President to inform him that I’m back and have resumed my responsibilities as Governor of Rivers State.
“It was simply a father-son discussion, thanking him and seeking his guidance on areas where issues may arise so that we don’t find ourselves in any situation of crisis.”
He spoke Oon the President’s remarks, saying: “He advised me on what to do and how best to move forward in governance.”
Fielding question from newsmen regarding his relationship with Nyesom Wike, Fubara declared: “I don’t know what you mean by ‘paper peace.’ As far as I’m concerned, we have made peace. Fubara and his principal are working together.”
