Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola on Monday wins again as a Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta dismissed a suit challenging the transfer of his voter registration from Idimu in Egbeda; Lagos West Senatorial District, to Ilaro in Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun State.
The suit was filed by Muideen Olamilekan Akintande; the plaintiff, against Senator Adeola popularly called YAYI and three others before justice J.O AbdulMalik.
Dismissing the case in his judgement for lacking merit, Justice J.O AbdulMalik also awarded a cost of N6million against the plaintiff.
Muideen Olamilekan Akintande had in the suit marked: FHC/AB/CS/152/2022, approached the Court asking it to declare as unlawful and void, the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to facilitate the transfer of Adeola’s voter’s credential to read Ogun State instead of the initial Idimu in Egbeda, Lagos State.
Three others – Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Ogun State, and the APC were also dragged to Court along with INEC over Senator Adeola’s matter.
Adeola who is representing Lagos West Senatorial District in the 9th Senate, is also the All Progressives Congress(APC) senatorial candidate for Ogun West Senatorial District in the February 25 National Assembly election.
Akintande predicated his suit, ‘FHC/AB/CS/152/2022,’ on the premise that at the time INEC and its officials approved the transfer of the voter registration of Senator Adeola from Idimu, Lagos State to Ilaro in Ogun State, the senator was still a resident and residing in Lagos West Senatorial District while also serving as a sitting Senator representing Lagos West in the National Assembly.
