The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has released the results of 16 out of the 18 local governments of Edo State which pertains to the Saturday governorship election in the State with Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress(APC) maintaining a clear lead.
Okpebholo is leading the others – Asue Ighodalo (Peoples Democratic Party), and Olumide Akpata (Labour Party) in the keen governorship contest.
Although, 18 political parties participated but APC, PDP and LP were the frontrunners yesterday. Others simply paled into insignificance.
The results from 16 out of the 18 Local Government Areas of the state, showed APC: 244,549, PDP: 195,954 and LP: 13,348. Results from the remaining two LGAs are yet to be collated.
However, collation exercise resumes 5 pm today, according to INEC.
