The authority of University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has expelled five students for alleged examination malpractices and hostel racketeering.
The university further rusticated 14 others for alleged misconduct.
This was contained in a statement by the UNILORIN Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, stating that the approval for the expulsion/rustication of the affected students by the Vice Chancellor, Wahab Egbewole (SAN), followed the recommendations of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee at its 220th/221st meeting.
The statement added the affected students were penalised for offences ranging from misconduct to theft, examination malpractices, hostel bed-space racketeering and extortion, beating a fellow student, admission racketeering, extortion and assault.
It explained that the penalties for the offences committed by the students included rustication for either one semester or one academic session, including expulsion.
The affected students were in various academic levels – 100, 200, 300 and 400.
