Guber Poll: APC’s Hyacinth Alia, PDP’s Oborevwori Win In Benue, Delta

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared a Catholic Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia; the Governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the March 18 governorship election in Benue State.

The Catholic priest polled 473,933 votes to beat his closest rival and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Titus Uba, who scored 223,913.

The Returning Officer, Prof Faruq Kuta and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna declared Alia the winner.

Alia, is expected to take over from Governor Samuel Ortom of the PDP G5.

He described his victory as a remarkable history for APC and said the victory belongs to the good people of Benue State.

He urged the indigenes and residents of the state to expect positive change.

Also, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Sheriff Oborevwori has been declared winner of the Saturday’s Governorship election in Delta State.

Oborevwori defeated Senator Omo-Agege of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled a total of 240,229 votes.

The PDP’s Oborevwori polled 360,234 total votes.

The deputy president of the Senate and the senator representing the Delta State Central Senatorial District, Omo-Agege in only four local governments out of 25 local government areas in the state.

The State Returning Officer, Prof Georgewill Abraham, while declaring Oborevwori as the winner of the governorship election at the INEC headquarters in Asaba, said the PDP candidate “having met the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned as governor-elect.”

Meanwhile, Rasheed Kashamu, son of the late Senator Buruji Kashamu has been announced as winner of the House of Assembly election into Ijebu North Constituency 1.

Rasheed of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) polled 10, 004 to defeat the incumbent member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Sylvester ‘Niyi Abiodun (a.k.a SLY) of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

At 26, the younger Kashamu will probably be the youngest House of Assembly Member in Ogun state and nationwide in this dispensation.

Kashamu has a B.Sc in International Business and Management from Brunel University, London. He also has a Master of Science degree in International Finance and Investment from the University of Surrey.
