
• Dr Akinbo, Rasaki Yinka
Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences, OSPOHAS, has Dr Akinbo, Rasaki Yinka as substantive Rector of the institution just as be vowed to make it the best healthcare manpower training ground in the country.
Dr. Akinbo made this known at his investiture as the Rector of the institution, declaring that building on the school core competencies of training healthcare professionals and unique position among Polytechnics as parts of his focal points.
He urged all hands to be on deck to make OSPOHAS a reference point in quality graduates anywhere they find themselves in the ever challenging healthcare sector.
The pioneer substantive Rector noted that efforts will be directed at relevant agencies to attract much needed infrastructure to the institution to make teaching and learning to both the lecturers and students alike more conducive.
He commended Governor Dapo Abiodun, for upgrading the former Ogun State College of Health Technology, to a full fledged Polytechnic and appealed to the governor for assistance in the area of infrastructure development especially the internal roads of the school to make commuting easier among members of the institution ‘s community.
Dr Akinbo had his primary education at St. James Primary School, Iperu Remo between 1972 and 1978. He thereafter attended Akesan Community Grammar School, Iperu Remo between 1978 and 1983 for his secondary education.
Having crossed the first two huddles successfully, he proceeded to the University of Ilorin where he bagged B.Sc (Hons) in Statistics. His Masters degree, M.Sc (Statistics) programme was at the University of Ibadan which he completed in January, 1993.
He studied for his doctorate degree at the Federal University of Technology, Akure where he successfully completed his PhD programme in Statistics in June 2023
He is a Statistician, Data Analysis Specialist and Seasoned Polytechnic Lecturer of almost thirty-three (33) years taking him through The Polytechnic, Ibadan; Yaba College of Technology, Yaba; Lagos City Polytechnic, Ikeja and Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro.
Before his appointment as the substantive Rector for OSPOHAS, he has over 10 – year experience as Chief Lecturer and Director Industrial Liaison and Placement Office of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro and had a successful two – term each as head, Mathematics and Statistics Department and Director UNESCO/NBTE training centre.
As a seasoned researcher, Dr Akinbo is a proud member of relevant professional bodies. He is a fellow, Royal Statistical, UK; Member Nigeria Statistical Association and Member American Statistical Association.
The school was established on September 28th, 1976 by the pioneer military administrator of the state, Colonel Seidu Balogun. It took up forty one students at inception with Dr V. B Odunlami as the pioneer Head of the then Ogun State School of Health.
