As the compulsory rights and obligations of the holy pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina move towards its climax, Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has advised its pilgrims to maintain orderliness and decorum during movement to and fro Mina, Muzdalifah and other Holy places.
About 1, 238 pilgrims from Ogun State are part of the over two million pilgrims across the world performing this year’s pilgrimage.
The Board’s Executive Secretary, Alhaji Salau Dauda, gave the advice to the pilgrims while interacting with Newsmen in Mecca, saying that Saudi authorities had designed a systematic movement of pilgrims, such that no pilgrim would be allowed to move directly to the Jamaraat on the 10th of Dhul Hija.
Salau said over two million pilgrims performing this year’s Hajj would be moving in streets that cannot contain a hundred thousand pilgrims at a time, reminding pilgrims to follow instructions given by the officials.
He said ” there will be an organised system that must be respected by all pilgrims for their safety, and for the system to work effectively, it must operate like a complete chain”.
Salau reiterated the need to strictly follow laid down rules and regulations of Saudi Arabia to prevent stampede.
The Daily Crucible recalled that over two thousand pilgrims including 317 Nigerians lost their lives in 2015 Hajj stampede, therefore, a lot of measures are being put in place to prevent a repeat.
