Suspended Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Minister Dr. Betta Edu has arrived at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Headquarters to be grilled in connection with N585 million scandal in her ministry.
Edu, who was suspended on Monday, January 8, by President Bola Tinubu, after she was accused of orchestrating bulk payment of humanitarian funds into a private account.
The N585 million was meant for payment of grants to vulnerable groups in Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Cross River and Ogun states.
Edu who was made Minister by President Tinubu at 36, is the first minister to be suspended from office since members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) were constituted in in August last year.
Before her suspension, many Nigerians including human rights lawyer, Femi Falana asked the young politician and University of Calabar trained Physician to quit her job for betraying the confidence reposed in her.
