Six people have died and three others injured in an auto accident involving two vehicles – a Sienna bus and unmarked truck, at the Ogere corridor of Lagos – Ibadan expressway.
The accident occurred when the Sienna bus with registration number EPE692EL rammed into the unmarked truck on Friday morning.
The six people were said to have died on the spot.
Chief Route Commander, Federal Roads Safety Corps(FRSC) and Public Education Officer, Florence Okpe, in a release on behalf of the State Sector Commander, Akinyemi Fasakin, said the injured victims were taken to Patmag Hospital Ogere while the remains of the dead were evacuated to FOS Morgue Ipara – both in Ogun State.
She quoted the sector Commander, as describing the accident as “an avoidable act” and sympathised with the victims’ family over the loss.
She stated, “A total of 2 male adults, 7 emale adults were involved in the crash. 2 Male Adults and 4 Female Adults were killed while 3 Female Adults were injured in the crash. The injured victims were taken to Patmag Hospital, Ogere, and the corpses were deposited at FOS IPARA Morgue.
“The suspected cause of the crash was excessive speed on the part of the Sienna Space Bus, who rammed into a moving truck from the rear. The truck did not wait after the incidence.
“The Sector Commander, Ogun Sector Command, CC Akinwumi Fasakin, described the crash as an avoidable act if proper caution was fully put in place by the driver. He urged motorists to ensure they give maximum concentration to driving as it is an act that requires such and obey all traffic rules while driving on the highway. He further commiserated with the families of the crash victims and wish the injured victims quick recovery.”
