Tension has taken the better part of Osogbo, the Osun state capital, on Friday as Osun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sits to give its judgement on the last governorship poll in the state.
Armed security operatives from the Nigeria Police, Department of State Services(DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps(NSCDC) and Amotekun Corps took over the strategic locations in Osogbo and cordoned off a large swathe of public space to avert a clash between suspected supporters of former governor Adegboyega Oyetola and that of governor Ademola Adeleke.
Oyetola is challenging the victory of Ademola Adeleke during the 2022 Osun gubernatorial election on July 16th 2022, alleging infractions in 749 polling units and certificate forgery.
The Daily Crucible observed that the Police, DSS, NSCDC and Amotekun were deployed to man popular junctions, political offices and other flashpoints to forestall any trouble.
