Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West) has congratulated newly appointed acting Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun on his meritorious appointment to the pinnacle of his career in the Nigeria Police Force.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had on Monday announced new appointments in the security sector including the appointment of Mr Kayode Egbetokun as Acting Inspector-General of Police.
Mr Egbetokun was subsequently decorated on Tuesday as Acting IGP by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The brief decoration ceremony was performed jointly with the spouse of the new Acting IGP, Mrs Egbetokun.
Reacting through a statement by Chief Kayode Odunaro, his media adviser, following the new appointments, Senator Adeola commended the president for the appointment of one of his illustrious constituents from Ogun State as the acting IGP pending his confirmation for the same position in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Senator described Mr. Egbetokun as a patriotic security officer that had served the nation in various capacities at home and abroad stressing that his appointment will bring in a renew vigour in tackling many of the security challenges facing the nation at this period.
Mr. Egbetokun joined the Nigerian Police Force in March 1990 and served in various capacities rising to the position of Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG before his present appointment.
