Former National President, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria(PFN), Dr. Felix Omobude, has urged Nigerians to first embark on self – transformation and regeneration in order to make a better and transformed country possible.
Omobude, who is the Superintendent of Gospel Light International Ministries (New Covenant Gospel Church) with Benin City as its Headquarters, said Nigeria is not lacking in religion but added that how to translate godly characters from various worship places into national character and attitude to propel national growth, harmony and development of the country is the big issue.
The Reverend spoke on Sunday, April 14, while fielding questions from newsmen shortly after his sermon at the 2024 Holy Convocation of the Victory Life Bible Church(VLBC) International, Victory City, Ajebo Road, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
He canvassed for a total attitudinal change on the part of Nigerians, especially people who profess to call the name of God and serve Him irrespective of the faith or denominations, declaring that’s what the country needed most today to plunge forward.
Rev. Omobude said, “Nigeria is not lacking religion. You are either a Christian, a Muslim or African Traditional religion. Everybody has something to say about God but we need to translate it to national development.
“When you embrace Christ into your life, He gives you a total change. It is that total change that we need to take out of the church and out of our places of worship and take it out to the nation and that will change Nigeria for better.”
In his message on the Holy Convocation theme, ‘This Same Jesus,’ he urged Nigerians, especially Christians to always show heart of gratitude to God and seek His guidance to harness and profit from the innumerable blessings, talents and opportunities He deposited in the country.
Also speaking to reporters, the lead Pastor of VLBC, Apostle Lawrence Achudume assured Nigerians of an unfolding brighter future, urging them not to lose hope in the country but to keep faith alive.
Apostle Achudume called for de- emphasis on depending on governments and politicians alone to bring about the desired change and national development, urging citizens across socioeconomic strata to look inward for God – given talents and resources to move the nation forward.
He said, “Don’t lose hope both on your nation and your self. There is hope, Jesus is still changing nations and changing lives. It is not about prayer and prayer alone. We are teaching christians on entrepreneurship, business and godly matters to empower people to succeed in life, rebuild the nation. Let us be less dependent on Government and politicians. let’s trust God, talents He has deposited in us and we will change Nigeria to rule the world. Nigeria designed to rule the world and not to be ruled by any other nation.
“We have to renew our minds and have transformed minds to build a new and prosperous nation, a new economy and a new system. The first thing Christ did was to change the minds of mind, remove hatred, anger, ethnicity and religiosity where we hate one another, once we have a renewed life, a corruption will be a thing of the past, learned contentment with Christ Jesus. With that, it will no longer be one person or a few people eating what belongs to all of us. Nobody will plunder our common wealth and social system will change. If I change, you change and every person changes, corruption will die.”
