The Ogun State Government has suspended Oba Abdulsemiu Adewale Ogunjobi, the Olorile of Orile-Ifo, for six months for engaging in conduct unbecoming and uncharacteristic of an Oba.
This decision was made following an invitation extended to the embattled monarch and his victim by the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hazmat, for interrogation purposes.
This action became necessary due to Oba Ogunjobi’s alleged reckless utterances and public misconduct, which were evident on social media and widely disseminated in the public domain.
A release by the state government through the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Information and Strategy, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, stated that the measure was taken to maintain the dignity of individuals and protect the sanctity of the revered traditional institutions.
“Following the investigation conducted on the matter, the Kabiyesi has been suspended and stripped of the paraphernalia of the stool of Olorile-Ifo, pending the determination of his culpability or otherwise regarding the allegations. The aforementioned decision was duly reached,” he stated.
